The Bengali Calendar, or Bônggabdô (বঙ্গাব্দ), is a solar calendar used in Bangladesh and parts of India. The new year begins on Pohela Boishakh (পহেলা বৈশাখ), which falls around April 14th. The current era, based on the official calendar for Bangladesh, is calculated from this date.
